Whenever in Moscow I am sure to visit the Artist's house at the Krymsky val. That is because, to my mind its expositions reflect exactly the main events of the modern art life of the capital. And this time I was faced with the small discovery – the exhibition of Ekaterina Yastrebova. The name of this thirty-five-year-old painter, the graduate of Stroganov university, is well known within painting-fanciers. Her works are kept in the many private collections all over the world.
The canvases of Yastrebova are close to the awareness of the modern person. They are full of refinement and sense of humour and absolutely substantial. They represent women doing the laundry and manicuring nails, the model who takes in her arms the sculptor, the painter drawing the dog. But meanwhile the feeling is that you are in the wonderful world filled with waiting for celebrations and trembling of the butterfly's wings. It is the world where there are no dramas, “accursed” questions and everyday puzzles. We are tired indeed from them and now we just want to live and treat this life not as an ideological duty, but the wonderful story where you are the main inventive person. The love, art and the life itself are the kaleidoscope of subjects wherein we are the cheerful and idle audience. It looks like the situation when the adult remembers games of his childhood. You feel yourself good because of it but a little bit sad.
